There’s a gardening session tomorrow, usual time. There’ still lots to do, planting and tidying. Weather forecast is a little iffy with early morning rain clearing during the morning. But it never rains on a Wednesday!!
It was a wonderful Halloween Party. Over 200 children and at least as many adults came along. The weather was terrific and everything went remarkably well, especially given the much larger than expected numbers. Many thanks to all who came along, the volunteers at the stalls who were all brilliant, Asda for all their generous gifts and to Janet for organising it all.
The Met Office says it will be warm and sunny for our Halloween Party tomorrow (3-5pm for age 3-8).
There was a heavy shower around 10, not good news. But it soon dried although it remained dark and damp. We helped Julie and her team plant the winter bedding (under Rocco’s supervision) and we cleaned out the bothies, ready for the Halloween Party on Saturday. The Autumn leaves still look fabulous.
The Wednesday gardening Session is on at the usual time, 10 -11.30. Please come if you can as there’s lots to do.
There’s a gardening session in the third best park in Scotland, on Saturday, usual time! Come along if you can.
Starbank Park came third out of the all Scottish entrants in our first attempt in the Green Flag Awards People’s Choice poll of Britain’s best open spaces. This is great news for a small community park and reflects the huge efforts to restore the park from the Friends and the City of Edinburgh Council’s Ritchie Fraser, Jen Johnstone and Julie Milne (and her team).
Strathaven Park was placed highest placed Scottish Park and in the UK top twenty. Rouken Glen in East Renfrewshire was second.

A good morning at the park yesterday, it was fair, warm and breezy, perfect for gardening. We’ve planted many more daffodils, weeded and tidied and the place is looking good. There are loads of flowers still flowering and plenty fungi too.
