It rained this morning. First time for ages that it was too wet to garden for most of the morning. But the coffee and biscuits were very welcome.
Park is looking good. Janet’s large flower pot and the gladioli are stunning.

As always there’s plenty to do – please come along.
There is a gardening session on Saturday, 10-11.30. The weather forecast is fair and there’s lots to do. Please come along if you can.
We tidied and weeded during a glorious morning but only as a preliminary to the day’s main event, Janet’s birthday party in the park. The star of the moment blew out her candles and we all got on with the serious business of gluttony. Not much left at the end…

Starbank Park is looking good. We have sunflowers and gladioli for the first time and the primulas have even started flowering again.

There’s a Wednesday gardening session this week at the usual time. The forecast really is good and there’s lots to do. Please come along if you can.
Saturday’s gardening session is from 10.00-11.30. There’s lots to do and the weather forecast for Saturday morning is fine. Please come along if you can.
We had an excellent turn-out again on Wednesday. We planted more ferns in the fernery (many thanks to David and Stella from Kevock Garden Plants) and some peonies in the east border. Then more weeding and trimming. Ian Ross made a great job of sharpening the tools, many thanks to him and to Sue of Asda who raised the cash.

Here’s a selection from this morning’s show.

A fine busy morning today and the park is looking good. Many thanks to Julie Milne and Dave Dorward for coming down to discuss possible displays in the star next year.

The rest of us got stuck into weeding and tidying the Devlin Fountain, the Newhaven Heritage boat and the geraniums at the north wall. Another couple of barrow loads of weeds are now slowly composting.

And Janet found time to pick quite a few broad beans in the park this morning.
