Fifth best park in Edinburgh
It’s official! We’re amongst the top 10 of Edinburgh Parks! Edinburgh Council’s latest park quality survey results are out and we’re fifth equal and the second most improved park in Edinburgh. Well done to all the volunteers, Julie and her team and Jen and Ritchie.
A big visit and damp gardening
Victoria Primary’s P2 classes visited the park this morning (with teachers). It’s the first step towards the Friends and the School working together to build a children’s nature trail beside the Laverockbank Road entrance. Very exciting!
It was a pretty dull and damp morning but there’s still lots of colour in the park. We even found time for some gardening before the rain came at 11.30, trimming the lavender bushes, preparing a boat planter for replanting and lots of tidying.

Fabulous Aerial Video of Starbank
Graeme Murray has made a glorious aerial video of Starbank Park. It’s at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSmhBk6kZYo and is certainly worth a look. Graeme has posted videos of other local flights on You Tube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qeoZZu0SiAiS5iC5uC52A. The video of sunset at Newhaven Harbour is terrific.

Sunshine and warmth
A glorious autumn morning in the park. We planted bulbs, organised the compost, weeded, pruned and enjoyed the weather. We even found a rather fat frog!
