Julie and her team have almost finished planting the summer bedding. It’s looking great. Thanks Julie.

We had lots of volunteers on Wednesday and did loads of weeding. There are lots more tidy borders.

A fabulous summer morning in the park. The borders where the summer bedding is to be planted have been weeded and edged, the boat at the Starbank has been replanted and we’re all exhausted! But the park is looking great, and with picnickers!

Picnic in the park
Tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits were the order of the day. Special thanks to Sue and Asda for the éclairs and biscuits – very nice! We did garden too: more weeding and preparing for the summer bedding. Herbaceous borders are starting to look good.

Catherine Cumming from Edinburgh Living Landscape came to visit us today. We had an interesting chat about the park and about the Living Landscape project and then Catherine helped with the weeding, many thanks.
Weather felt more like March than May but we had a productive morning. Loads of borders were edged and weeded and the park is much tidier and looking good. There are even a few cherries still flowering.
There’s a gardening session on Saturday 23rd, usual time, 10.00-11.30. The forecast is good and the weeds are growing fast! Please come along if you can.
Good luck to MyParkScotland who launch this weekend. Our gardening sessions are part of the huge range of community activities in parks across Scotland.
It was a glorious, warm and productive morning although we did make time for coffee. The spring colour has largely gone but clematis are starting to flower on the east wall. The ferns are doing remarkably well, I think they have all survived their first few weeks at Starbank. A special thanks to Bridget for bringing more ferns this morning. The herbaceous borders and roses are thriving, too, and promise lots of colour in the summer.

Graeme Murray has made a great video of the park from the air. See it at https://youtu.be/Lga8o5LKjH0. Other local flights are available to view on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qeoZZu0SiAiS5iC5uC52A .
Thanks Graeme.
Stress at the park! We’d weeded and tidied and weeded again. Jen and Ritchie brought a gazebo (despite the wind!) and food. The Green Flag judges came and inspected. Fingers crossed!
