After all the excitement of the Green Flag, we have a Saturday Gardening Session from 10.00-11.30. There’s still lots to do, of course, and the weather forecast is fine, if not seasonably warm!

Green Flag for Starbank Park!
Starbank Park now has a Green Flag! Bruce Robertson of Keep Scotland Beautiful presented Starbank Park’s Green Flag to Alastair Robertson and Janet McArthur yesterday in Starbank Park. There was a good turn-out on a fine sunny morning (well, until it was coffee time!), the park was looking great and we got loads of publicity from STV and the Evening News.

Tidying for Tomorrow
Overtime at the Park
We did a bit extra tidying in the park this morning before Thursday’s Keep Scotland Beautiful announcements. The flower borders are looking really good. The summer bedding is full of colour, the fernery is well-established and new herbaceous borders are flourishing.
We saw one of our resident frogs, a butterfly or two and some busy bees.

P&O Cruise Liner off Newhaven – the view from the park
Britain’s largest cruise liner was moored off Newhaven this morning. It is massive! We had to cross Starbank Road to see it but we did get a good view of the launches shuttling back and forward to Newhaven while we were gardening.

An unexpectedly dry morning
It rained until 9.30 this morning and then started again around 12, giving us a pleasant and dry morning for our gardening session, although we did need to shelter during our post session coffee and cakes. There was a good turnout and we got through loads of work. The park is looking good. All the borders are now planted out and we’re just about keeping the weeds at bay.

The park is looking good but there’s plenty to do to keep it smart.
