Victoria Primary P2 visits the nature trail

We had lunchtime visitors in the park day when Victoria Primary P2s came to the park to test the nature trail.  They had a great time on the stepping stones (now all laid!) and sewing seeds for summer planting.  It was very educational for the Friends as some pupils used the unusual Unicorn seed sewing method.

Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage visit Starbank Park

Louise Dunne from Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage came to the park on Tuesday morning to make a short video as part of  a series of videos on crowdfunding campaigns.  Despite the weather, Louise interviewed three of us and we had a successful and pleasant morning.  Louise describes her visit in  http://www.resourcingscotlandsheritage.org/blog/2016/02/what-a-star/.

Busy Morning in the Sunshine

We had a good turnout on a glorious winter’s morning.  There were lots of bits of branches to clear after Gertrude and Henry had done their worst, we have put the potted irises into the sunshine and got on with the nature trail.  And, because the weather is so good, the bergenias are flowering!

Nature Trail Blazing Ahead

We’re making good progress with our nature trail.  Most of the stepping stones have been laid and we’ll soon be preparing the ground for our first area of themed planting.  Bird boxes are being assembled and insect hotels readied.  There’s plenty of time for you to help, either volunteering on a Wednesday or a Saturday, or by donating through the MyParkScotland website at http://www.mypark.scot/projects/childrens-nature-trail/.
