Lots of volunteers and lots done on a cold, damp morning. We cut back bushes, trimmed, weeded and produced a load of woody prunings.

We had lunchtime visitors in the park day when Victoria Primary P2s came to the park to test the nature trail. They had a great time on the stepping stones (now all laid!) and sewing seeds for summer planting. It was very educational for the Friends as some pupils used the unusual Unicorn seed sewing method.

Glorious morning, a good turnout and lots of work done! The park is looking good and the primulas are really colourful. We weeded, spread leaf mould and did a lot more on the children’s nature trail which is really taking shape and is being tested.
The Wednesday Gardening Session on this week, 10-11.30 as usual. The forecast is fair and there’s plenty to do. Please come along if you can.
Louise Dunne from Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage came to the park on Tuesday morning to make a short video as part of a series of videos on crowdfunding campaigns. We had a good turnout on a glorious winter’s morning. There were lots of bits of branches to clear after Gertrude and Henry had done their worst, we have put the potted irises into the sunshine and got on with the nature trail. And, because the weather is so good, the bergenias are flowering!
We’re making good progress with our nature trail. Most of the stepping stones have been laid and we’ll soon be preparing the ground for our first area of themed planting. Bird boxes are being assembled and insect hotels readied. There’s plenty of time for you to help, either volunteering on a Wednesday or a Saturday, or by donating through the MyParkScotland website at http://www.mypark.scot/projects/childrens-nature-trail/.
