Loads of planting

Another two weeks of remarkable weather, now 16 consecutive dry Wednesday mornings.  Last week the rain stopped just before we started at 10, this week the rain came on just after 12, not long after we’d finished.  12 volunteers last week and 11 this week.  Well done everyone and thanks.

We have been given a load of herbaceous plants and shrubs by Gavin from Urban Utopia.  Many thanks Gavin.  We spent most of the last couple of Wednesdays planting and what a difference the plants have made already.  But we still get stuck into the hard graft and we’ve continued tidying and edging of the rose borders and the borders on the slope (thanks Stuart).

Helping Restore Starbank Park – Open Day

10.00-11.30, Wednesday, 15th January

As part of our CSV Action Earth Grant, we are holding an Open Day.  The main focus will be on our first winter planting.  Please come along.  You could help with the planting or simply meet us to find out what we’ve done and what we’re hoping to do.

Inaugural Public Meeting: Monday 25th November 2013: 7.30-8.30pm

Trinity Academy

The Friends of Starbank Park is a community action group that was set up at the beginning of October.  We are dedicated to restoring Starbank Park to its former beauty.  We are taking a hands-on approach and working closely with the City of Edinburgh Council to improve the park.  We have made a difference already.

This inaugural meeting is being held to set up the Friends of Starbank Park on a formal basis, to elect office bearers and to consult with the community on our aims.

Please join us to help rescue the Starbank Park.
